Anyway, on to the topics at hand. Nothing major, just some probable typos in a description (bolded below).

Quote:	Discipline/Student Rights
Have a question about your/your child's rights at school? Is your/your child's school's discipline system fair? Come on in and talk with other students/parents about the system and how it has affected you/your child or others. Also, feel free to ask any questions you have and we'll all try our best to answer them.

Other comments include generic stuff about how dead the site is and similar...but I have no room to talk on that one! lol

With the presence of the Swine Flu (H1N1) comes increased concern from parents, students, and staff alike. As many of you know, a vaccine, coming in both intranasal mist and injection form has been developed. Schools have responded to concerns about the spread of swine flu in several ways. From encouraging students and staff to frequently wash their hands, all the way to offering the vaccine on campus -- sometimes even during school hours. My questions to you are this:

What has your school done to address concerns about the Swine Flu? How do you feel about their response? Should the vaccine be offered by the school? Why or why not?

Like many students going through high school, it isn't always 'smooth sailing' for me either, and there are many things that contribute to that. In light of that, I created this site to give other students like me, as well as parents a place to get some support, make their voices heard, and also maybe, just maybe, inspire some change in the system to make things more bearable for everybody involved.

I am very blessed in that I have a loving family, and amazing friends I love to death. Love meeting new people, and would love to get to know some of you better as well! I'm a very sarcastic person at times, who has what some may call a twisted sense of humor, but in general, I'm a pretty nice guy when given a chance. If there's anything at all you may need, don't ever hesitate to shoot me a PM or e-mail, and I'll be more than happy to give you a hand =)

Greetings, and welcome to SchoolForums.org! To our new members, we're absolutely thrilled to have you here! To our returning members from back in the days of the old site, we're glad to see you here again as well. =)

The mission of this site is to give students and parents alike a venue to make their voices heard, and maybe, just maybe, inspire some change -- from discussion of the more localized issues, all the way to the biggest ones affecting students, teachers and parents everywhere. We also aim to provide a source of support to anyone experiencing any kind of difficulty as they, or their child go through the school system: be it a frustrated parent whose child's needs are not being adequately addressed, or be it a student victimized by a school disciplinary injustice; as well as anybody in between and beyond. Alumni are also welcomed, in that they can provide a unique perspective on the middle and high school experience. Of course, they are also more than welcome to seek as well as offer any necessary support.

In addition to making your voice heard to the schools, we also strive for an environment where your fellow members also hear it. Through collaboration, we not only can support one another, but can also share ideas, stories, and more that just might help another person going through the same thing. To offset the somewhat serious nature a lot of the discussions here may bear, we also have a lounge area on the site for you to shoot the breeze with your fellow members, play some forum games, network, and who knows? Maybe even make some new friends along the way! To enhance the social experience, we also offer features such as Private Messaging (PM), among many others.

At the end of the day, we want nothing more than for you, our members, to get the most out of this site as you possibly can. In terms of benefiting from as well as contributing to the conversations therein, as well as in terms of enjoying a fun, and lively experience. To ensure this positivity for everyone, and also in compliance with state and federal laws, we do have rules and regulations in place. Please take the time to review them at your convenience.

Once again, we hope you get the most out of your experience here and enjoy your stay with us! If you have any questions or concerns, or if we can otherwise be of any assistance to you, please don't hesitate to contact us! Generally, PM is the quickest way to reach us, though all staff members are also reachable by e-mail.

So go on! What're you waiting for? We can't wait to see you jump into the discussions, and even start some of your own! Don't be shy! Why don't you introduce yourself? We'd love to get to know you better =)

[Read Me First!] About the News Section

Welcome! The goal of this area of SchoolForums.org is to discuss current events happening in the world of education.

The world is a place that's always full of change, and our schools are far from immune to that. This affects the parents as tax payers and as guardians of their children's best interests; teachers as professionals trying to do their job; and most importantly, students, who have to deal with the results of these changes - be it for better or for worse.

With that in mind, there is a great opportunity for discussion and of course, debate. Make no mistake, we absolutely want you to take it. However, to make sure that things stay civil, and to ensure that the most relevant news is discussed; just keep in mind the following:

1. Posting

A. Articles submitted for threads need to have discussion value. A radical new budget plan, scandals, arrests etc... Stories need to be thought provoking. We're not looking for things like "<name> appointed new superintendent of <district>". Not only do we know nothing about the person, state of affairs, etc.. But we also have no reason to care (unless there is something incredibly significant, such as an obvious criminal history). Discussion value is the key, once again.

B. The original source of the article must be cited.

C. All site-wide rules apply.

2. Moderation

A. All new threads (or article submissions) will not appear immediately after submission, as they must be checked and approved by a staff member. This is to ensure the quality of your experience in the News area as per 1(A). Replies (or comments) however, will still appear immediately as they normally would.

B. If your submitted thread does not appear within 2 days, you may contact a staff member about it. Someone may have just not gotten to it yet, or, it could have been rejected for not complying with these or the site-wide rules. If the latter is the case, you are more than welcome to question the decision, and appeal to a higher up here if you would like. However, please know that badgering staff members about unchecked or rejected articles will not be tolerated.

C. Threads/posts violating the rules will be locked or deleted, and appropriate disciplinary action may take place (though we hope it's not necessary!)

We hope you enjoy, and make the most you possibly can out of this area as well as the rest of the site! If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to give us a shout. =)

Thanks,
We're not looking for things like "<name> appointed new superintendent of <district>".

Thanks,

Privacy Policy

A. Information Collected by This Site

We collect two types of identifying information from users: personal data (such as names and e-mail addresses); and aggregated data (such as information about traffic patterns on the site – e.g., how many users log into the site on a daily basis).

B. Personal Information

You will be asked to supply a user name and your e-mail address. In addition, you may choose to supply additional information, including but not limited to the URL of your homepage, your occupation, your city, state and country of residence, and information about your interests. With the exception of your password and e-mail address, this information is used in your public user profile and is viewable by other users. If you do not want this information to be viewable by others, you may simply leave these fields blank.

C. Message Board Information

Please remember that information posted to message boards becomes public information. Use caution when posting. Users under the age of 18 should be especially careful not to provide any personally identifying information while using the message board.

D. Use of Your Personal and Message Board Information

SchoolForums.org, its Project Manager, administrators, staff and other agents will not sell or reveal to any third party any personally identifiable information, unless the user provides permission to do so, except to the extent that they are compelled to provide such information by law. A subpoena, warrant, or other form of court order is required. Anybody requesting this information without said court order will not be granted access to it (this includes, but isn't limited to school authorities seeking information pertaining to discipline of one or more of their students).

E. Aggregated Information

Aggregated information is collected through various methods. For example, we collect IP addresses. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you're surfing the Web. Web servers, the computers that "serve up" Web pages, automatically identify your computer by its IP address, and when you request a page from a Web site, its servers log your IP address. We do not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable, so although your session will be logged, you will remain anonymous to the site. We collect IP addresses for the purposes of system and site administration.

F. Use of Cookies

Our site also uses "cookies" to collect information. A cookie is a small data file that most major Web sites write into your hard drive for record-keeping purposes. Cookies allow a Web site to measure activity on their site and to improve your user experience – for example, by remembering your passwords and viewing preferences, thus allowing you to visit various member-only parts of the site without re-registering. We do not use cookies to retrieve information from your computer that was not originally sent in a cookie. Except for personal information voluntarily provided by you (i.e., during registration), we do not use information transferred through cookies for any promotional or marketing purposes, and that information is not shared with third parties.

You may occasionally get cookies from advertisers on the site, which is standard on the Internet. These cookies are outside the control of our site, and are not subject to our privacy policy. Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. If you'd prefer, you can set yours to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent. However, it is possible that some parts of the site, such as the member-only areas, will not function properly if you do so.

G. Links to Other Sites

It is important to note that this site contains links to other sites, and that those sites may not follow the same privacy policies as our site. For instance, if you click on an advertisement on the site, this will take you away from the site and to an entirely different site. These sites may send their own cookies to you, and may collect data and make uses of it that this site would not.

H. Commitment To Children's Privacy Protection

In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, no information should be submitted to or posted on the message board by users under the age of 13 years without consent of their parent or guardian. The message board does not provide any personally identifying information, regardless of its source, collected from users under the age of 13 to any third party for any purpose whatsoever unless disclosed during collection.

I. Security

Any information you provide on this site (SchoolForums.org) will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, although the staff cannot be held liable for any hacking attempt or other circumstance beyond their control in which your data is compromised.

J. Contacting Us
If you have any questions regarding this policy or have other concerns regarding your online privacy, we encourage you to contact us by simply sending an e-mail to info schoolforums org.

The Rules

(adapted and modified with permission from phpBB)

1. Posting and General Conduct

A. Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting. Additionally, members are not to cross post (post the same thread in more than one section). Users consistently posting to the wrong forum or cross posting may be given a warning (see policing below).

B. Members should post and conduct themselves in a way that is respectful of other users. Flaming, abusing or harassing users in any way will not be tolerated and will lead to immediate disciplinary action.

C. Members are asked to not act as "back seat moderators". If members note an issue which contravenes something in this policy document they are welcome to bring it to the attention of a member of SF Staff via PM or the "Report" button next to the post. Do not respond to such topics yourself. Members who consistently "act" as moderators will typically be warned for a first offense and suspended for any subsequent offenses.

D. Members should remember this board is rated PG-13. Posting pornographic or generally offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated.

E. Members are asked to respect the copyright of other users, sites, media, etc. Users linking to or asking for information on warez, crackz, etc. or re-printing material without permission will receive a warning and their post will be removed.

F. Members should respect the bandwidth of other users and sites. The use of inline ([IMG][/IMG]) image tags pointing to data stored on third party systems for which the user has not received permission to link to may be removed. Those pointing to data that is excessive in size will also be removed.

G. Members should post in a way which is consistent with "normal writing". That is users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or colored text, etc. Similarly users should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts. Users consistently abusing this will typically be warned for a first offense and suspended for any subsequent offenses.

H. Members should use an appropriate, descriptive title when posting a new topic.

I. DO NOT post anything about anyone ( including teachers or administrators) that could get yourself or others into trouble with the law. Users violating this will instantly be warned if not suspended.

J. Spam is not tolerated here under any circumstance. SchoolForums.org defines "spam" using an acronym formed by its spelling: Stupid Pointless Annoying Message(s)/material. This may include, but isn't limited to unauthorized advertisements, going off topic, posting about matters only relevant to you and/or a specific group, etc... Users posting spam will usually be warned (if not suspended) and their post removed.

K. DO NOT post things that you receive in PM unless told otherwise. If it was PM-ed to you, it was meant to be private.

L. The staff reserves the right to edit or remove any post at any time, and take action as seen fit in the best interests of the community. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, in violation of the rules, etc. as noted in these points is up to the SF Staff and not users.

M. The forum rules where applicable also apply to private messaging as well as other features of the board. Abuse of the private messaging system and/or other features may lead to warnings and/or the revocation of the privilege to use them by an administrator.

N. Multiple Accounts are never permitted. Only one account per person and only one person may use any given account. Additionally, the owner of each account is responsible for all activity that occurs on that account. The "my younger sibling did it" excuse doesn't hold up here.

O. Members may not post any personal details of others and are heavily discouraged from posting their own. This includes but isn't limited to full name, address, phone number and photos.

P. Members are responsible for awareness of all rules and regulations. They are subject to change without warning at any time, so reviewing them frequently is advised.

Q. A few parts of SF have forum-specific rules (rules only applying to that particular area). Users are just as responsible for knowing those rules as they are for these site-wide regulations.

2. PM (Private Messaging) System

The PM system is a way for forum members to communicate with one another using the same interface used for posting within he forums, allowing you to be more expressive than standard email because you can use emoticons and BBC code. While we're glad we can provide such an invaluable resource to you, please keep these Guidelines in mind (If you don't agree to them, feel free to go to your User CP --> Edit options ---> and uncheck the box that says "Receive private messages from other users". You are free to re-enable PMs for yourself at anytime, but by doing so, you agree to the rules ) :

A. Use of the PM system is a privilege, not a right. Members who abuse the system will have their PM privileges revoked by an administrator and may face other additional disciplinary action.

B. PM a staff member if you receive an inappropriate, spamming, abusive or otherwise unwanted PM. We will immediately investigate and take appropriate action.

C. All rules apply in the PM system. THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY.

D. Don't post anything in the forums that you received by PM unless directed otherwise. That would be a clear violation of netiquette (bad internet manners).

E. The privacy of the PM system is not absolute. The administration of this site can, and periodically does review the contents of the PM system. Specifically, but not limited to:

* If presented with a search warrant, subpoena, or law enforcement request

* If looking for evidence in relation to a disciplinary investigation by the administration (we usually don't penalize without evidence)

* If we have reason to believe that you're up to no good - the definition of "good" being subjective and left to the discretion of the administration.

* If you sent a PM to somebody and they've forwarded it to us with a complaint. We also reserve the right to post the contents without identifying the author, as an example of bad PM usage.

* If we have reason to believe that you may be a danger to yourself and others and are looking for anyway to assist police and other emergency services in tracking you down.

* If we have reason to believe you or another person are in immediate danger and we're trying to assist emergency services and police in tracking you down.

When we determine a situation has occurred where it is necessary for us to review the PM system, we will do so without warning or notification.

D. Users abusing the PM System and/or violating its rules will face disciplinary action, including possibly having their Private Messaging privileges revoked by an administrator.

3. Signatures

A. Signatures may contain up to five lines (one line being that displayed on a browser opened to 800px width) of text (of small or normal size) and/or one image, valid combinations include; a single image of no more than 60px high, 468px wide and 6kB (6000 Bytes) in size. Signatures containing an image this large may also include one line of small size text. Signatures containing an image of 30px high may include up to three lines of small size text or two lines of normal size text. Images of 15px height or less may allow up to three lines of normal size text or four lines of small size text.

B. Text sizes should be between 9 and 12 (small and normal). Text in signatures is subject to the same conditions as posts with respect decency, warez, emoticons, and so forth.

C. Links in signatures are permitted to a maximum of four unique pages or sites. Linked sites may be commercial in nature. You may not link to warez, porn or political, racist or other similar hate sites. Links are included in signature size limits.

D. Users abusing these rules will be disciplined, including possibly having their signature privileges revoked by an administrator.

4. Avatars

A. Users are permitted to utilize a gallery avatar or to link to one of their own (subject to previous points on misuse of bandwidth) or upload one from their own computer. User defined avatars are to be no larger than 200 pixels square, contain no image which attempts to portray the user as having an official status here (e.g. mimicking ranks or copying avatars of team members), may not exceed 8.96 KB (9177 bytes) in file size and have a consistently high availability (i.e. links to images on slow servers or those prone to failure may be removed).

B. Avatars are subject to the same conditions as posts with respect decency, and so forth.

C. Users abusing these rules will face discipline, including possibly having their avatar privileges revoked by an administrator.

5. Cash and Shop

A. Users are not to in anyway, shape or form force a user's hand in/into any transaction. Users that do such a thing are subject to anything from a 30 day suspension to a PermaBan.

B. Users are not to beg others for donations constantly. Users that have been told to stop that continue anyway should be reported to staff members and the user will instantly receive a warning.

C. SF Bucks are not to be used for any real life transactions.

D. Personalization, such as setting a custom user title, is an option available for purchase in the SF Store (MyPlaza Turbo). We are happy to make this fun feature available to you. Please be advised that all site rules apply to these and other features. Custom user titles or other personalization found to be in violation of the rules will be removed, and you WILL NOT be compensated for the SF Bucks you spent - in addition to any disciplinary action taken.

6. Reputation System

A. All forum rules apply to reputation comments.

B. Making deals with others involving reputation as currency is prohibited.

C. Users abusing the reputation system and/or its rules will face disciplinary action, including possibly having their reputation system privileges revoked by an administrator.

7. Policing

A. Disciplinary actions defined:

Warnings

Warnings are issued by staff members when you have violated a rule. A verbal warning is just a nice little PM telling you to knock it off and don't count. Official Warnings discussed in this paragraph apply as follows in the text below:

Each member starts off with 0% warning level (0 warning points out of 10). As official warnings are issued, like a traffic ticket, they carry points that increase your warning level. When your warning level reaches certain levels, there are automatic disciplinary actions that are taken (such as a 7 day suspension if you reach 3 points [30%] ). Most warnings are worth 1 point, and clear from your record in 4 months. But, also like a ticket, certain more severe violations have higher point values and take longer to expire.

Post Moderation

If an administrator finds it necessary, or if you accumulate 7 warning points, you may be put on "Moderated Status". That means that any posts you make will not appear to the public without approval from a staff member.

Privilege Revocation

An administrator at his or her sole discretion may revoke a privilege for a long as deemed necessary by him or her. These privileges include avatars, signatures, Reputation System, Private Messages and even posting at all.

Suspension / Banning

If you have committed an infraction of the rules, you can be suspended / banned for the amount of time determined by the rules.

Moderators may suspend for between 3 and 30 days.

Administrators / Team Leaders may suspend for between 3 and 90 days. They may also revoke privileges at their discretion.

The Project Manager may suspend for as long as he sees fit and even issue a permanent ban. He may also revoke privileges at his discretion.

B. Arguing with staff members after having received a warning (verbal or Official) will lead to an immediate additional warning. Should a member's warning points reach certain amounts, the automated disciplinary measures associated with those levels will be applied.

C. Users who feel they have been unfairly penalized are welcome to contact the Project Manager. If he feels you were treated badly he'll remove the punishment imposed upon you.

D. Any attempt to circumvent a temporary ban will lead to that ban being made permanent. Circumvention includes, but isn't limited to re-registering under a non-banned username, changing IP addresses to evade an IP ban, registering a new email account of evade an email ban, making a new account to have a fully functioning one after losing privileges. Circumvention includes posting as an anonymous user. Please note that we only allow 1 account per user anyway.

E. Users contact team members personally (via any method) and sending insulting, indecent or vulgar material will be subject to immediate disciplinary action, possibly including a permanent ban.

F. Anyone attempting to undermine the staff's authority by doing something they were told not to do, reversing a change made by a staff member, encouraging others to break the rules, or being frequently and/or exceptionally disruptive to the reputation or nature of the forums will be responded to by the staff with immediate disciplinary action.

G. Permanent bans are a last resort and thought is given before implementing them. While the SchoolForums.org Project Manager may consider lifting permanent bans from time to time this is a rare occurrence.

I just have to say HOW DARE YOU BAN ME?! It's not like I did anything WRONG, you know! All I did was find rather amusing ways to post some facts and my opinion of a certain other member...and even that other member says you went off the deep end! What happened to my freedom of speech?

And before you get started on the RULES of this site, let me just say they are nothing more than proof of what a horrible dictator the site owner is! You are the most arrogant, horrible people in the world! It makes no difference that the through the entire process Tristan was being as fair and reasonable as possible. The simple fact that I was banned makes me a VICTIM of this sites constant censorship and oppression. In fact, I think bans and other forms of discipline should be entirely outlawed, at least here, since the staff clearly doesn't know when it's appropriate to use them and when it isn't! Certainly no decent member like myself could EVER actually deserve that. Anyone who thinks differently is probably one of the dictator's horrid followers (if not the dictator himself)!

lol...just for the record, Dr Small did in fact claim that Tristan went off the deep end (after I had sent him every one of my lovely insults privately on his request).
Welcome to the Playground! This is where you go to play forum games with your fellow members, as well as start some of your own if you'd like.

Please keep in mind the following rules while you're in the Playground, so it remains enjoyable for everyone:

1. Posting / General

A. While we understand that a forum game isn't supposed to require much thought or intelligence, all games here should still have some kind of point to them.

B. As per the site-wide rules, we ask that everyone please keep it rated PG.

C. While we do occasionally move less intelligent threads from the Lounge to the Playground, so as to spare the particular thread of being locked, if it is game-like enough, or has enough merit to show everyone a good time, please be aware that such occurrences don't happen often, and that this is not the place for any pointless rubbish that someone has the urge to post.

D. Please be aware that posts here, for fairly obvious reasons, do not count towards earning SF Bucks, increasing your overall post count, or advancing in your rank.

E. While the ones that understandably shouldn't be enforced for the purposes of playing a forum game will not be upheld, please be aware that all applicable site-wide rules and Lounge specific rules still apply. Including, but not limited to our spam policies.

2. Moderation

A. Threads and posts found to be against the rules will be locked/deleted.

B. Members violating these rules are subject to disciplinary action.

Thanks for your cooperation. Have fun,
